“Life is the dancer and you are the dance.” Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose
Change is the one constant in life.
“In your Face” change often hits us in dramatic, disorienting ways. Think of the birth of a baby, an unexpected “you're fired” or a sudden loss of a family member.
Then there's what I call “Sneaky” change. It's the kind of change that people don't notice or talk about much. Partly because It's more quiet and subtle. Easy to miss. So, listen up.
If you are thinking of doing a “cha-cha-cha” or some other dance with sneaky change these days, then that's a sign there's a life – so much bigger and brighter - wanting to be born. A dazzling life,
arising out of your deepest, wisest, self
faithful to your unique, one-of-a-kind destiny
full of vitality, vibrancy and laughter
Common Signs of Sneaky Change
Sneaky change is well, uh......sneaky. And what's not to be curious about that?!!?
It can slowly build and grow, without you even noticing. Classic sneaky change symptoms include:
A growing restlessness in your bones. A sense that ...something is not right. What used to feel familiar, comfy – even joyful – in your life, may no longer feel so
Feeling stuck. Like doing the same-old, same-old isn't quite cutting it anymore. Wondering, “Is this all there is to life?” “Is this all I can be?”
Feeling rudderless. Shuffling through life. As though you've lost your way. Missing your zest for life, the spring in your step and a sense of direction
If you're spotting the tell-tale signs of sneaky change these days. Then, you may already sense that change is afoot. And I'm here to tell you a more expansive and self-directed life is not far away.
My Dance with Sneaky Change
Not so long ago I had a deep aching in my bones to live a fuller, bigger life.
Still I believed I was too old to create such a life for myself. Can't teach an old dog new tricks, etc. I found myself paralyzed by fear and self-doubt. I felt stymied. Stuck. Rudderless.
Finding Your Way in a Wild New World by the brilliant Dr. Martha Beck changed all that for me. I began to see the possibilities of a more expansive, clear-sighted life.
But, this would mean stepping into the dance of change. The thought of it all was scary. Daunting, really. I simmered and stewed with the baby steps of change. And sweetly wallowed and rested many months. And little by little
I shed the unhelpful stories and thoughts...You're too old. Who do you think you are? How dare you....? And,
I learned to welcome, dream and create new visions of the possible.
Clarity emerged at last. A knowing in my bones. I took the leap. I declared myself “Life Coach”. To myself and others. And this new website and blog have become just two more steps on my journey. I welcome you.
To be sure, pesky lizard (reptilian brain) thoughts still pop up for visits – to say how could you? And who do you think you are? But I welcome them these days. As dry husks of a former life. Here to remind me just how far I've come.
A life of unending possibilities!
Change can be scary
Yeh, we all know...Just the thought of dancing with sneaky change can be daunting.
'Cause change means stepping into the unknown. The unfamiliar.
And we like our predictability, don't we?!
Dancing with not-knowing calls on our courage.
And, often, our sense of adventure and play.
But take heart!
On the other side of change is...
You, living an authentic, deeply satisfying life.
You, leading a life inspired by your own inner wisdom.
You, creating a life you barely dreamed possible.
A life of lit-upness!
So wouldn't you agree?
It's time to dance – allowing your fresh, dazzling self to emerge?
